Does Therapy Really Work?

The short answer is yes, but there are no guarantees.

We have seen people overcome pain they have felt for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and even 50 years! If our word is not enough, and hey, we don’t know each other yet, then there is research that shows that EMDR is a well established treatment for a multitude of psychological issues,* and is endorsed by the World Health Organization(WHO) for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Also, various studies have shown that medication alone is not as effective as a combination of medication and therapy when treating anxiety and depression. Play Therapy is also an evidence-based and researched therapy along with other therapies that we use at The Clarity Clinic.

People sometimes wonder if therapy really works because they or someone they know has tried so many things and been suffering so long that it’s hard to imagine relief. It’s also common to feel fear about therapy because of discomfort facing emotional pain, or of investing time, energy, or money.

If you’re considering therapy as an investment in yourself or your loved one you’ve come to the right place.  We encourage you to take a look at this website and see if our philosophy is a fit for you request a free consultation.

How Long Will Therapy Take?

This depends on specific goals, availability, reasons for entering therapy, as well as engagement in the process.

Fees and Insurance

Fees

The price of sessions varies depending on the service being provided, the therapist providing the service, as well as the length of sessions. We recommend contacting us for a free consultation call. This consultation will include a series of questions designed to see if we are a good fit for you, and might include scheduling a session or you gaining a referral to another service. This consultation can help you choose a therapist in an informed way based on your needs – saving you time, energy, and money.

Insurance

Receipts will be issued after each session. Clients with Extended Health Benefits for Registered Psychotherapy, Registered Social Work, or Psychological Services may be able to receive coverage for sessions (psychological services are provided under the supervision of Dr. D. Barry Cook, Clinical Psychologist). For those without insurance, we can provide a receipt for income tax purposes.
